British Values

In line with the Department for Education’s Five-part definition, we promote the following British values at Green Lea First School;

  • democracy
  • the rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

At Green Lea First School, through our ethos of ‘Learn, Explore, Achieve’, we promote the British Values to ensure our pupils leave our school with the necessary skills to be a successful, empathetic, morally secure person who contributes positively to society and is equipped to question and explore the diverse world they live in.

We explicitly teach British Values through our weekly ‘Beyond Green Lea’ Assemblies, which is based upon the ‘Picture News’ resource. This provokes rich discussion about the world around us.

British Values are carefully intertwined throughout our SCARF curriculum (SCARF – Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship), our Green Lea Curriculum which includes explicit Oracy lessons, and our enhanced curriculum offer.
